COMPACT RULES 2006-2011
A. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED
WARRANTY OR SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR
REGULATIONS.
B. It is the responsibility
of the driver of the car to see that his/her car completely satisfies the rules, including but not limited to all safety rules.
The driver of each car represents to the promoter and all others that his/her car has satisfied all applicable rules, including
but not limited to safety rules, whenever such driver participates in warm-up, practice or competitive laps.
A. Type: 1970-1990 rear
wheel drive, foreign or domestic car or pickup, originally 4 cylinder equipped – See Engine Rules!
A. General:
1) MUST HAVE ALL
BODY PARTS TO RACE, SPECIFICALLY: hood, roof, trunk lid, grill, fenders, quarter panels,
windshield, front or rear bumpers. Exceptions: a car may start the main event without parts if ok'd by tech men to be safe.
2) Panels may be drilled
out to allow normal construction methods and passage of roll cage sections, frame connections, linkages and plumbing. All
holes or voids must be filled or blocked with a like thickness of original material.
B. Interiors:
1) Inner panels may be
removed in door, fenders, quarter panels, roof and trunk lid. Hood must be gutted. Dash and related
brackets must be removed.
C. Overall Car Weight:
1) The car shall weigh
a minimum of .95 pounds per cubic centimeter and shall be weighted at the end of the main without adding fluids.
A. Windshields:
1) Windshields that fully
closed the opening are required.
2) OEM safety glass or
tempered plexi-glass acceptable.
3) Windshields are subject
to the windshield strap requirement and shall be securely fastened.
B. Rear Window:
1) Rear window may be closed
with acrylic or plexi-glass.
C. Side Windows, Quarter
Windows, Air Deflectors and Net:
1) Quarter window may be
closed with acrylic or plexi-glass.
2) The right door window
shall remain open.
D. Rear View Mirror:
1) NO MIRRORS.
E. Firewalls:
1) Firewall and floor pan
must be stock and in the original position and extend from windshield base to original rear wheel wells.
2) Firewall may be massaged,
but not removed, to allow engine placement.
F. Doors:
1) Doors must be welded,
bolted or steel pop riveted shut.
G. Fenders:
1) Wheel openings may be
enlarged for tire clearance; should be rolled to reduce cut tires. Driver's area must be completely shielded from rest of
wheels.
H. Bumpers and Rear Filler
Panel:
1) Aerodynamics
ok. Front and rear bumpers and covers 1970 to present, make to make as long as it blends into body sides.
1) Must be stock (factory
stock) 4cyl., and mounted in the stock position. Manufacture to manufacture.
2) All engine parts shall
be OEM parts manufactured through 1985 only.
3) No high performance
or Motor-Sports parts.
4) No fuel injections or
turbo parts allowed.
5) No rotary, air cooled,
rear or mid engines.
A. Engine Displacement:
1) Maximum
2600 cubic centimeters.
B. Internal Changes:
1) Bore not to exceed .040”.
2) Balancing
OK.
3) Indexed and adjustable
timing gears ok. Billet idlers ok.
C. Oil Pans and Coolers:
1) Windage trays OK.
D. Cylinder Heads:
1) Heads must match block
as produced (2300 Ford head to 2300 Ford block, 22R Toyota head to 22R Toyota
block etc...)
2) Head machining not to
exceed .020.
3) No porting, polishing,
or matching of ports, in regards to head only.
E. Camshaft, Valve Lifters,
and Rocker Arms:
1) Camshaft .425
max. Lift at valve.
F. Intake Manifold:
1) Carbureted
intakes only.
2) GM 153 may use marine
2bbl. intake.
G. Carburetor:
1) Limited
to one 2bbl. only.
2) 390 cfm
max., 1.7 in. throttle bore.
3) No internal polishing
or machining of air horn.
4) Factory
throttle cables OK, safety spring required.
5) Toe hook required on
throttle pedal if solid linkage.
6) Spacer
total thickness 2 in. including gaskets. Measured from intake manifold to base.
7. ENGINE/CAR
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
A. Ignition System:
1) Factory
ignition only, no magnetos. No performance or aftermarket.
B. Battery:
1) Any 12 volt passenger
car battery is allowed and shall be mounted in the passenger compartment.
2) Must be six inches from
any exterior sheet metal and mounted above the floor pan.
3) Must be enclosed in
a nonconductive covered box and fastened through the box to the car itself.
C. Electrical Switches
and Locations:
1) A labeled ON-OFF switch
shall be located on the roll bar behind the driver’s seat. The switch must be wired to the battery in a manner that
will cut off all electrical power to the car.
A. Fan:
1) Electric
fans OK.
B. Radiator:
1) Any stock or aluminum
radiator mounted in front of the engine shall be permitted.
C. Overflow:
1) Must have catch tank
and no auxiliary radiators.
A. Exhaust Manifold:
1) Ranger manifolds OK.
Headers OK, collector not past bell housing.
B. Exhaust Pipes:
1) Exhaust must be completely
sealed from driver, inside or outside of car. Exhaust must exit behind driver.
C. Mufflers:
1) Muffler is optional,
not mandatory.
A. Clutch:
1) Clutch shall be stock.
2) Clutch, flywheel, fasteners
and release bag must weigh a minimum of 28 pounds.
B. Flywheel:
1) Flywheel shall be stock.
2) No aluminum or nodular.
C. Transmission:
1) Only manual transmissions
with all gears working are permitted.
2) Automatic transmission
shall not be permitted.
D. Drive Shaft:
1) Any steel driveline
may be used.
2) Must
have safety hoop around front of driveline.
3) Driveline must be painted
white.
E. Rear Axle:
1) Stock not over 8.8"
ring gear, may be locked.
2) Any gear ratio allowed.
3) May mount other stock
types, but must use original mounting brackets of vehicle.
F. Wheels and Lug Bolts:
1) Maximum
8" wide, steel only. No exceptions.
2) Right side wheels must
be racing approved or tech approved.
3) Bead may be reinforced.
G. Tires:
1) Maximum
width 9" across the face.
2) MVS Track approved tire.
3) No pressure relief valves.
A. Connecting of sub-frame
allowed.
1) Sub frame connectors
not to extend more than 6 inches past end of frame stub. Can be lower than frame stubs, but must have at least 3 inches of
ground clearance from bottom of connector with driver in car.
A. General Suspension:
1) No weight jacks or coil
over. Struts OK, if originally equipped.
B. Front Suspensions:
1) Any bushing material
can be used.
2) Upper and lower A-arms
can be modified, but no tubular.
3) Adjustable caster/camber
plates on front left and right OK on strut cars, Camaros and fox body Mustangs. As well as on any
other strut front end car.
C. Front Springs:
1) Any steel spring, mounted
in stock position with stock mounting brackets shall be permitted.
D. Rear Springs:
1) Any steel spring, mounted
in stock position with stock mounting brackets shall be permitted.
E. Sway Bars (Anti-Roll
Bar):
1) Stock diameter sway
bar mounted in stock position and non adjustable.
F. Shock Absorbers:
1) Any gas or hydraulic
shock, mounted in stock position, can be used.
G. Body Height Requirements:
1) Frame and cross-members
must have a minimum of three inches of ground clearance at lowest point with driver in car.
H. Car Height Adjusting
Devices:
1) Adjustable spacers are
permitted on all four corners on rear coil spring cars as long as stock remains in stock position.
2) Spring spacers are acceptable
on coil springs if mounted in a permanent fashion so as not to be dislodged in a crash.
a) No "screw-in" twist-in type blocks.
b) Horseshoe type permissible.
3) Leaf cars may run adjustable
shackles. Mopar:
Front or Rear not both.
4) Lowering blocks are
acceptable on rear leaf spring cars.
5) Springs may be heated
or cut.
13. BRAKES
AND
COOLING COMPONENTS
A. Brake Components:
1) Brakes shall be working
on all four wheels.
2) Disc front, disc or
drum rear.
3) Master cylinder and
brake components shall be stock.
4) No adjustable proportioning
valves.
A. Pump gas, race gas (Cam 2, etc..).
B. No nitro or alcohol.
15. FUEL
SYSTEM
A. Fuel Cell:
1) Fuel cells required
with tip over valve and can.
B. Fuel Cell Container:
1) Must be mounted in trunk,
must not be more than 8 gallons maximum.
C. Fuel Lines:
1) Fuel lines must run
underneath the car. No more than 12 inches total length of rubber hose.
D. Fuel Pump:
1) Fuel pump must be mechanical
or OEM electric if it is factory equipment.
a) If electric it must have an oil pressure shut off.
A. Fire Control:
1) Fire Extinguisher:
a) Shall be securely fastened.
b) Shall be within drivers reach.
c) Shall be minimum of 2 1/2 lb., ABC type.
2) Fire
systems OK, no halon.
3) Must have fire shield
that completely separates driver from fuel cell and can.
B. Seats:
1) Bucket only, high back
and headrest required.
2) Racing seats are mandatory.
3) No fiberglass
C. Roll Bars:
1) Must be of 4 point minimum
construction and of 1-1/2" or 1-3/4” O.D. pipe or larger, .095 thickness.
a) Must have cross braces and gussets.
b) Must have side bars: 3 on drivers side and 2 on passenger side.
c) Top of helmet should be at least two inches below bottom of any roll cage tubing running above or
past head.
d) A bar running from center of halo bar to across the center of windshield opening
between two upright legs on each side of the window. Optional.
2) Front and rear hoops
are mandatory.
3) It is recommended that
the driver side door bars have plating, 14 gauge, to cover post to post and top to bottom, either
between tubes or on the outer side of tubes, between door skin.
4) Nerf or Bump Bar may
be welded to frame but shall not exceed one (1) inch past the outside edge of tires with ends rolled in to body and no blunt
ends.
D. Transmission/Clutch
Shielding
1) Scatter shield recommended,
must be either 1/4" steel plate or tech approved belting. Belting inside over hump must have at least 6 3/8" bolts holding
it down.
E. Steering wheel
1) A steel quick release
steering wheel is mandatory.
DRIVERS, CAR OWNERS AND PITMEN IN THIS CLASS SHALL OBSERVE ALL THE MISSION VALLEY AUTO RACERS GENERAL RULES.
If it doesn’t say YOU CAN…..YOU CAN”T!
RULES TO BE CHANGED MUST HAVE A 70% MAJORITY VOTE OF THE CLASS DRIVERS OR OWNERS THAT PARTICIPATED IN TWO OR MORE RACES AND
70% MAJORITY VOTE OF BOARD MEMBERS. If car owner or driver can’t be contacted or is contacted and doesn’t reply
back to the class representative, the vote for the car would be a NO vote. Any rule changes not voted on by driver or owner
will be a NO vote.
ONLY in the interest of SAFETY, COST and/or
FAIR COMPETITION can 70% of the board of directors make a rule change if the class representative can’t get 70% of the
votes from the class drivers or owners.
